Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease can happen without you even knowing it.  Gum disease occurs when bacteria gets below the gum line and effects the bond between the gum and tooth. Gum disease can cause painful tooth loss.

We use the latest defense against gum disease through laser treatment.  Laser dentistry can help save your teeth from gum disease before it's too late.

Gum disease can be caused by many things including plaque buildup, smoking, genetics and hormonal changes occuring during puberty, pregnancy, menopause, stress, medications, poor nutrition, etc.  If you have swollen and red gums, bleeding while brushing, flossing or eating, receding gum lines, constant bad breath or shifting teeth, you may have gum disease.  While gum disease is treatable, it is best if caught early, so be sure to call us today of you have any concerns or questions.

To treat gum disease with laser therapy, a laser is used to disinfect and eliminate effected gum tissue surrounding the tooth and healthy gums.  This soft laser is most effective because it helps to eliminate the diseased gum without harming the healthy gum tissue.  By interrupting the bacteria's destruction of the gum tissue and bone, your gum can begin to heal naturally from the existing gum disease.

Laser dentistry can be a less painful and gentle alternative to other treatments, and also has a fast recover time.  In some cases, surgery may still be necessary for extreme cases of gum disease; however, laser therapy is a much less invasive and more comfortable and effective option for mild to moderate cases.
